Bibimbaap, my favourite Korean dish .

One of my favourite dish in Korea has to be Bibimbaap. And the reason is simple; it is tasty and has vegetables in it. I must say, it’s a relief for non-beef eaters like me or vegetarian people as most of the Korean dishes have meat.

The word literally means "mixed meal." Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. And since I don’t eat beef, I usually asked them to exclude beef for me. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot. And I prefer the hot one which is called Dolsot bibimbaap.
Vegetables commonly used in bibimbap include julienned cucumber, zucchini, mu (daikon), mushrooms, doraji (bellflower root), and gim, as well as spinach, soybean sprouts, and gosari (bracken fern stems). Dubu (tofu), either plain or sautéed, or a leaf of lettuce may be added, or chicken or seafood may be substituted for beef. For visual appeal, the vegetables are often placed so that adjacent colors compliment each other.
In Korea, Jeonju, Jinju, and Tongyeong are especially famous for their versions of bibimbap.
I even got a chance to make bibimbaap myself at the Jeonju Korean culture centre and you can see me here with the tasty bibimbaap I'd made . Until then Bon Appétit !!!

My Favourite place

Every girl loves shopping and I am one of them. And Shopping in Korean market is an experience too. MyeongDong is one of my favourite shopping spots. Myeong-dong or Myong-dong is a dong in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea between Chungmu-ro, Eulji-ro, and Namdaemun-ro.

Myeongdong is one of Seoul’s main shopping districts featuring mid-to-high priced retail stores and international brand outlets, including Zara, Lacoste, Polo Ralph Lauren, Forever 21, Bulgari, Louis Vuitton and Nature Republic. It is a particularly popular area for young people and tourists as a center for fashion and sight-seeing. Several large shopping centers and department stores are in the district including Lotte Department Store, Shinsegae Department Store, Migliore, M Plaza, and Noon Square. The floating population of Myeongdong is estimated to be around 2 million a day and in terms of floorspace rents, Myeongdong is the one of the most expensive shopping districts in the world. Many hotels, restaurants, cinemas, theaters, and historical sites complete the diverse mixture of the area.

Except for early morning and late night delivery hours, the main street and most of the alleys are blocked off for pedestrians to roam freely without being hindered by traffic.

You can reach Myeongdong through Line 4 of the Seoul Subway, while the northern area is closer to Euljiro 1-ga Station on Line 2. Many inner and outer city bus lines pass through the district for easy access.

Korean Dream - Part 1

Until 2 or 3 years ago, Korea has always been a dream to me. never thought I would live and study here..Luckily as they say , if you are meant to be, you will be no matter what .So here Iam..And now doing what I love most...sharing things about Korea through my eyes.

I remembered studying about Korea in my general knowledge class during middle school . It is called, “The Land of the Morning Calm”.
My korean fever started when I watched a Korean drama called Full House starring Bi or Rain. Since then I became more curious about Korea and its culture.

So, when I was offered a scholarship programme by the Korean Government my small cousins and family were thrilled. I love to admit the fact that I just love this small dynamic country and the reasons are numerous. I lived in Incheon, (a third largest metropolitan city after Seoul and Busan), for a year as a Korean Language student. Almost 2 Flipping Years or so. And now I almost like one of them- The Korean or Hanguk Saraam.

to be continued...
